It’s Official!
King Kobra are back and Ready to Strike!
Formed in 1984 in Los Angeles by legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent etc), the band recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records – the 1985 release ‘Ready to Strike’ and 1986’s ‘Thrill of a Lifetime’. The band featuring four relatively unknown musicians at the time – David Michael Philips on Guitar, Mick Sweda on Guitar, Johnny Rod on Bass and Mark Free on lead vocals.
After the bands demise in the late 80’s, with Carmine joining Blue Murder, Mick Sweda to Bullet Boys and Johnny Rod to WASP, the band is now back with the original classic 85 lineup with the addition of Vocalist Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) to replace Mark Free (now Marcie Free).
A new album is touted for release in 2010 with touring to coincide.
